Metadata Documentation

Enslaved.org Metadata Documentation describes four types of records commonly used in historical slave trade data projects: Person, Event, Place, and Source. There are 44 Enslaved.org metadata fields: 19 Person fields; 9 Event fields; 9 Place fields; and 7 Source fields. There is one document for each type of record that labels and defines all fields for that record. The Metadata Overview document explains how contributors to Enslaved.org can map their data to the records and fields in Enslaved.org or can use our documentation to structure new datasets.
